The Office of the CIO strives to enrich the BYU environment through the application of information technology (IT) principles, practices, and systems.  We intend to support the institutional mission by helping students, staff, and faculty reach their full potential and making BYU more inspiring, comfortable, productive, and safe.

Our vision is to provide legendary service and value.  Our current emphasis is the creation of an environment based on service oriented architecture (SOA) principles.  We are sponsoring the creation of a web services infrastructure that will provide the entire campus with the tools necessary to expose, run, and monitor services.  We are also working with the Enterprise Governance Advisory Board (EGAB) for SOA to create an SOA governance model for campus.

It has long been our dream to make IT more effective by involving others in its creation.  Through the creation of services we are not hoping “that if we build it they will come”, but rather “they will come and help build it.”  I invite you to join us in this exciting effort!

BYU SOA Platform Now Live!

30Nov09 - The Office of the CIO is pleased to announce the general availability of a new Enterprise Web Services Registry.   The Registry provides information about how to call web services, what is expected to fill a request, what results are returned, who controls access and how the caller gains access. All current students, faculty and staff can access the registry at soaregistry.byu.edu.
The SOA Platform Team is truly excited to make this system available.  We look forward to the new applications that will be created as a result of the creativity inherent in campus community.
